My life, my passion, my story
24 Sep
I’m really really sorry that it took more time than I thought it would be. I started again with my third year at college and the competition of badminton started also. But I have made too many excuses now. Let me tell you something about the second part of my holiday. I will tell you something about Switzerland: The beautiful landscape, the scary mountains, the scary dam, the international city Genève and last but not least the lovely (or hateful) beerbike.
Tuesday 17 Augustus:
After a horrible night, because it was very very cold, we woke up and we went to the reception to change our room. They changed our room and it was much better. My bed was cleaner and I would sleep with my mom in a bunk bed.
After a lovely breakfast (with French bread) we went to walk through Veysonnaz. It was hard because I didn’t use to walk in the mountains and I relealised we needed a good condition. It was a very nice walk and we went back to our apartment. It was time to have a dinner and my mother cooked pasta for us.
It was time to sleep and I was a little bit scared because I was sleeping in the top bed (of the bunk) but it didn’t have a railing. So I slept the whole night against the walls.
Wednesday 18 Augustus:
It was time to go down and visit some big cities. First of all, we went to an old city: Sion. It was a nice city and we had a nice walktour through the city. We also visited one of the castles and there was a beautiful church in the castle. Unfortunately, all the wall paintings were almost gone. But the view from the highest point of the castle was very nice and we could see Sion from above.
Secondly, we decided to go to another city, Sierre. It was another old city and the city had a beautiful cityhall. We walked a little bit and we shopped also.
Thirdly, we went to one of the lake. Unfortunately, it was raining so we couldn’t swim!
Thursday 19 Augustus:
We went to Geneva and I was very excited. Because I knew one of the Swiss cities was important in the history, but I didn’t know which one. I read some things about Geneva before we went on vacation and I saw that there were a lot of important buildings, like the United Nations, Unicef, World Trade Organisations. I don’t know why but I wanted to see them.
My brother said to me the day before that I could drive. So I drove through Switzerland: ). But before I knew I was driving in the traffic jam and I said to my brother: “Please I don’t wanna drive, let’s change!”.
When we arrived in Geneva, we walked a lot from a beautiful church to the University of Geneva. It was funny because a lot of people were playing chess in the public garden. I’ve seen this before only in the movies.
I was suprised because we had a free wifi connection through the whole city. Time to internet. And I also saw some of the international buildings, so we could go back to Veysonnaz. But it was being dark and I think I’ve never been so scared in a car. There were no lights on the roads in the mountains so I thought we could fall down every minute!! But we arrived safely at home.
Friday 20 Augustus:
We planned some things today. We went to the ski piste at first. It was a journey of 10 minutes in the telecabine and when arrived above, we decided to walk towards the top. I was nagging that it was too hard to walk on a mountain, but when we reached the first “top” I said: “Okay, I am in Switzerland and I am on a mountain now. So let’s walk to the top!!”.
So we walked to the top and everytime we reached one, we saw it wasn’t the end. My mom stopped and I decided to stop too, because I was being dizzy. I think my brother reached the top of this mountain and he had seen a beautiful view. I think pictures say more than words in this case, just check below.
It was time to go back to our apartment and to go to Sion again. My mom wanted to shop and buy some presents.
The last thing we wanted to do in Switzerland was to swim. Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t good enough. But it didn’t matter for us and we went to Lake Dix, which is situated on altitude of 2140 meters. I saw something very strange on the map but I didn’t care about it until my brother suddenly stopped the car and said: “WOW, what is that?!… Oh cool! It’s a huge dam”. I was looking up and I was being scared of that huge weird thing. It was raining a little bit which made it creepy. The way to the dam was also very scary because you could see the river down there and there weren’t any crash barrier. There was a telecabine to bring you to the top of the dam, but unfortunately it was already closed. My brother wanted to see the lake, because it supposed to be beautiful (but you couldn’t swim of course). I think the dam wil always be in my mind as a very scary thing.
Saturday 21 Augustus 2010:
Our last lovely breakfast in Switzerland. It was time to go back to Germany. We departed early because there was an after party of the wedding. It would be a nice and warm day. Unfortunately, we couldn’t swim in the lake. We stopped in Montreux, because we knew that this was also a very beautiful city. I made the most beautiful pictures here. Especially, the one of the goose. We walked a little bit on the boulevard when it was time to go back to the car, so I said very loud: “VAMOS!”. There were a lot of tourist from Bulgaria and Poland and I thought maybe they think we are from Spain. A few seconds later, a man asked my brother if he speaks Spanish. Woops!
I drove also trough Germany which was very cool, because they don’t have a speed limit : ).
Finally, we arrived in Weiterstadt and after 5 minutes it was time to go to the after party. It was a very funny after party and I have never done something like this. It was a beerbike and there were 10 bikers. The others 6 were sitting on a chair or were tapping the beer.
I was one of the bikers of course and my head was being red. Everybody thought I was being tired and asked me to change. I didn’t want to change. In fact, this completed my whole holiday, because we didn’t ride a mountain bike in Switzerland or something else.
Yeah! I wanna thank all the people who were on the beerbike for this great afterparty!
After the beerbike we went to a Beer garden and me and my brother were talking with the “bride” and her brother about Dutch and German words. We laughed a lot until it was time to go back to Weiterstadt. We slept very late again and we had to wake up early, because we would go back to the Netherlands the next day.
Sunday 22 Augustus:
It was time to say goodbye of Germany! I didn’t want to go back, but we didn’t have another choice. I slept a little bit in the car and it was weird to be back in the Netherlands. Especially, when I saw the Dutch cars. After 5 hours we arrived in Almere.
After all, it was a very sportive holiday and the beerbike made it complete! The people were great and I can’t wait to see them again.
Watch the beautiful pictures here:
I will see (some of) you at Queensday ;)
